WrkLst Video: your videos, hosted by WrkLst

On this page

WrkLst Video hosts the videos of your works, presentations and website: 5 GB of uploaded files for 5 € a month, billed with your WrkLst subscription, your original files kept and downloadable at any time. If you would rather hold the account yourself, your own bunny.net account works too.

Videos in WrkLst are addresses: a work's video, a presentation's film and a website's Video block each point to a video somewhere, and WrkLst plays it. Pasting the address of a YouTube or Vimeo video has always worked and keeps working. With WrkLst Video you can also upload a video straight from WrkLst, choose one that is already in your video library, or have a file fetched from a link.

Adding a video

Wherever a video is asked for, the + button offers the choice:

  • From your video library — pick a video you uploaded before, upload a new one, or import one from a link. Shown once WrkLst Video is on (or your own bunny.net account is connected).
  • Get WrkLst Video… — shown instead while WrkLst Video is not on yet, to the people who may change the subscription. It explains what WrkLst Video is and costs, and one button adds it to your subscription. The library opens right away for your first upload.
  • Paste a video link — a YouTube or Vimeo address, as always.

You find the + on a work in the Videos section of the work form. Under the address field of a website page's Video block and of a website post's video, the same choice appears as a button. Where a pasted link is the only way, + adds the link row straight away.

What WrkLst Video costs

5 € a month per block of 5 GB of uploaded video files, on a yearly plan 54 € a year per block (twelve months less 10 %, like the WrkLst plan itself). A block holds the files as you uploaded them; the streaming versions made from them do not count. When your files take more than 5 GB, a second block is added from that moment — 6 GB of files is two blocks, 10 € a month — and when you delete videos, the smaller number of blocks counts from your next invoice. A block begun is paid for its period.

Billed with your subscription. WrkLst Video is a line on your WrkLst invoice, at the same rhythm as your plan: monthly with a monthly plan, yearly with a yearly plan. A block more on a monthly plan is charged with the next invoice; on a yearly plan it is invoiced at once for the rest of the year. There is never a second invoice or a second payment method.

During your trial. WrkLst Video can be switched on during the trial, with 5 GB included. It is charged with your subscription from the first invoice. A trial that ends without a subscription is never charged.

Billed by invoice? If your account pays WrkLst by invoice rather than by card or SEPA, write to us and we switch WrkLst Video on for you. Everything else is the same — the same library, the blocks following your files — and the blocks appear on your invoice. The card Video hosting then says Billed by invoice; to change or end it, write to us.

Your originals, your archive. Every file is kept exactly as you uploaded it, in the EU (Frankfurt), and streams at up to Full HD. In the video library, each finished video offers Download original, so your archive is always yours to take back.

Playback. Each block includes 100 GB of playback a month across your websites and presentations — some thousands of plays of a short film. Beyond that, playback pauses until the next month or until your files take another block.

Turning it on and off

WrkLst Video is added in three places, all the same: from Get WrkLst Video… in a video panel, under Add-ons on Settings › Subscription (Add to subscription), or on Settings › Integrations, card Video hosting (Turn on WrkLst Video). Adding it changes your subscription, so it needs the right for the subscription settings.

Settings › Subscription › Add-ons lists WrkLst Video with its blocks and the charge on your next invoice. The card Video hosting under Settings › Integrations shows the details — the files against the blocks, this month's playback, the dates when something ends — and is where you turn it off.

Turn off removes the line from your subscription at once; nothing is refunded for the current period. Your videos play to the end of the period you paid for, the originals stay downloadable for 30 days after that, then they are deleted. The same happens when your WrkLst subscription ends. Within those 30 days, Turn on again brings everything back as it was.

Your video library

From your video library opens the library. Library lists what is there, newest first, with a search by title and each file's size; pick a video and its address is filled in. Upload takes a video file from your computer and sends it straight from your browser, in resumable pieces, so a large film survives a hiccup in the connection; the Upload tab says beforehand when a file takes another block, and what that block costs. Once uploaded, Use this video places it; the video is encoded in the background and plays as soon as that is done. Import from a link fetches a video file from a direct link into your library.

Beside each video, Download original saves the file as you uploaded it, and Delete removes the video and its file from the library — wherever it was placed, the player then goes dark.

A video placed this way is an ordinary video address. It shows wherever the work's videos show, plays on your website in place, and in a presentation behind the same play card as a YouTube or Vimeo film.

Your own bunny.net account instead

If you would rather hold the account yourself, press Connect your own bunny.net account instead on the Video hosting card under Settings › Integrations — the line under the WrkLst Video offer; it opens the forms. bunny.net then bills you for storage and traffic directly; WrkLst holds only the key to your library. Sign up at bunny.net first. There are two ways in:

  • Create a library in my bunny.net account — paste your Account API key (bunny.net › Account › API). WrkLst creates a video library named after your gallery, allows playback only from your websites and from WrkLst, protects it with signed addresses (see below), switches off keeping the original files (storage you would pay for), sets the player's colour to a quiet near-black instead of bunny.net's orange, and keeps only the library's own keys, encrypted. The account key is used for this one step and then discarded.
  • Use a library I set up myself — paste the Library ID and the Library API key from bunny.net › Stream › your library › API. Give the library's CDN hostname (ending in b-cdn.net) too if you want preview pictures in the picker. A library you made keeps its own settings: set the player's colour under the library's Player settings yourself, and under Security allow playback from your domains. To protect its videos, paste its Token authentication key as well — now, or later on the card.

With your own account connected, the video panels offer From your video library just the same. Disconnect forgets the connection; the library and its videos stay in your bunny.net account, and videos already placed keep playing. Videos live in one library at a time: while WrkLst Video is on, your own account cannot be connected, and the other way round.

Protected videos

A video in your library plays only with a signed address that expires; without the signature, bunny.net answers nothing — not the player, not the stream, not the original file. WrkLst signs on your behalf, and only where a video belongs:

  • On your website, for exactly the videos you placed on its pages. A visitor's browser asks your website's door for the signature when a video comes into view, and gets one for an hour. A video that is not on any published page is not signed for anyone, however the address was obtained.
  • In presentations and previews, for as long as the page is open: these pages are drawn when they are opened, and their players come signed for the day.
  • The original file is never signed outside WrkLst. Download original in the video library is the one way to it; a saved download link stops working after an hour.

WrkLst Video is protected from the start. A library WrkLst creates in your own bunny.net account is protected from the start too. For a library you set up yourself, open it at bunny.net under Stream › your library › Security, switch on Embed view token authentication and Token authentication, copy the Token authentication key shown there, and paste it on the Video hosting card under Settings › Integrations — the card then says Protected. Publish your website again afterwards, so its pages carry the new addresses; a video placed before keeps its place. Remove protection on the card forgets the key; switch the two settings off at bunny.net as well, or the videos stop playing.
