Timeline

The WrkLst Timeline. Exhibitions, fairs and projects on one calendar, each at its real length, so you see a clash before it happens.

Open Timeline in the sidebar. Every entry is a bar as long as it really runs, in the colour of its group. A line marks today, and the groups you rank highest sit on top.

Most entries already exist somewhere else. Press Add entry and choose From an exhibition. Pick the show, and its title and dates fill in. Choose a group, add it, and the entry opens the exhibition with one click.

Consignments and shipments work the same way. A consignment brings its run, a shipment its pickup and delivery. Is a shipment still in planning? Then the dates open by themselves, because they're yours to set.

For anything else, take a Blank entry: a fair, a residency, a deadline. Give it a title, a group and its dates. Not settled yet? Tick Dates to be confirmed, and the entry is marked TBC.

Every entry belongs to a group. Open a group with its pencil to set its colour and its order: higher numbers sit higher. Rename it, and every entry follows. Name it like another group, and the two merge.

Plan your team, too. Put installs, deinstalls and fair trips in their own group. Whatever overlaps stacks up, so you see at a glance when your preparators have too much at once, and when there's room for the next change of show.

Click an entry to open what's behind it. The pencil on the entry changes its title, group or dates. Delete entry removes it from the timeline only. The exhibition, consignment or shipment stays as it is.

The bar at the bottom names the year, with arrows to the year before and after. Today brings you back to now. The year is in the web address, so a bookmark or a link opens exactly that year.

You can also start in the exhibition itself. Edit it, and under Timeline choose Add timeline entry: the dates of its first venue fill in. Save the exhibition, and the bar appears on the Timeline.

Five habits make it work. Add every show from its record, not by hand. Give installs, deinstalls and fair trips their own group. Mark open dates as to be confirmed. Order your groups once. And subscribe your calendar to the Timeline.
